Race for Their Lives 2010
Furry Friends Network’s 5th annual Race for Their Lives will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Gifford Pinchot State Park, Conewago Day Use Area. [ MAP | DIRECTIONS ] This event includes a 5K TRAIL RUN AND 2-MILE FUN WALK for individuals and teams and is formatted for the entire family.
Well behaved, physically fit, spayed/neutered, licensed and currently vaccinated canine companions are welcome and will receive some special attention for their participation.
Registration is $25 per person until Monday, September 13, and $30 per person on Race Day.
Register as an individual or form a three member team! Teams will consist of three members only. No teams of combined runners and walkers allowed. Three member team times are totaled for a team score. All team members are also eligible for individual awards.
Advance Registration Deadline is Monday, September 13.
Advance registration is strongly encouraged. By registering in advance and having your pledges totaled and marked in a separate envelope, event day race packet pick up will be significantly expedited.

RACE DAY REGISTRATION AND RACE PACKET PICKUP 7:45 – 8:45 a.m.
** Please have your pledges totalled and your FirstGiving donation sheet printed to hand to registration volunteers when you pick up your race packet on event morining.
Enjoy BREAKFAST foods and pick out your favorite DOOR PRIZES while you wait for the starter pistol.
RACE STARTS AT 9:00 a.m. Runners and walkers will have separate starting points.
A light LUNCH will follow the race.
Your RACE PACKET will include a Race for Their Lives 2010 T-SHIRT, goodies from our sponsors and three free Raffle Tickets to win great Door Prizes.
Additional RAFFLE TICKETS will be on sale to increase your chances to win great DOOR PRIZES: $1.00 Each, 8 Tickets for $5.00 or 20 Tickets for $10. Door Prize winners will be drawn while the race staff compiles winner results.
Door Prizes include FOUR PENN STATE FOOTBALL TICKETS (plus parking pass) for the September 25, 2010 Penn State vs. Temple football game at University Park. The winner will be sitting in University Park Section Wa, Row N, Seats 17, 19 , 21, 23.
In addition to prize awards for the top three fundraisers, RACE PRIZES will be awarded for: 1st Place Fundraising Team, 1st Place Team Run and Walk Winners, 1st Place Canine Run and Walk Winners, and 1st Place Individual Run and Walk Winners, male and female, in 5 age categories, 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50 and over. Special Canine prizes will be awarded for pre-registered and participating Oldest, Youngest, Largest and Smallest Canines. Please note: Canine prizes will be based on information provided with advance registration only.

How do I raise Pledges?
It’s easy! Ask 10 friends for $5.00 each, and you will have $50 to cover your registration fee plus $25 more to change a homeless animal’s life. Better yet, ask 25 friends, family members and coworkers for $10 each, and you will absolutely change a life!

Fundraising is simple using the Furry Friends Network FirstGiving page. You can donate on line directly to FFN or to a Race for Their Lives 2010 participant's fundraising effort...or you can create your own FirstGiving Fundraising page to collect donations on line.

This event generates a significant portion of FFN’s annual operating funds and is a great event for anyone interested in a little healthy competition, with or without their canine best friend. Don’t miss out on a morning of competition, fun, food and prizes.

FFN is also looking for corporate SPONSORSHIPS for the event. Your sponsorship for Race for Their Lives will help us continue to save homeless and unwanted animals in our community, pay for their medical expenses and daily needs, and fund spay/neuter surgeries to break the cycle of homeless cat colonies in our area. Donations of goods or services of any kind are also needed for the event. By becoming a Race for Their Lives sponsor you will gain recognition on the event T-shirt and through other advertising venues, while also receiving complimentary individual and team entries, depending on your chosen sponsorship level.
