In the brief time we were blessed with Ki he taught us so many lessons. On the outside his scars told a story. A gentle soul left in the hands of monsters. Even after all of the traumas he endured he was still beautiful on the inside. He was a loving soul, always gentle and kind.

He came to us as a puppy, cute as a button and rambunctious. He was always focused on pleasing his humans. He was very quick to learn and eager to please. He and our other Pit, Chance made fast friends. She kept him in line and they balanced each other beautifully.

In his short time with us we watched him grow from a pup not so sure about himself into a confident adolescent. He learned how to greet humans, be gentle with kids, and passed an advanced obedience class with flying colors. He knew how to ring the jingle bells on the door to go outside. He knew he wasn’t allowed to go on furniture and he always knew when it was bedtime and dinner time.

It was always our mission as Pit owners to promote the breed and advocate all of their redeeming qualities. We truly believe that there’s a reason why we were blessed with Ki. We know that he touched so many people with his story, and showed so many people that Pits are a gentle, loving family dog and all they want to do is please.

People talk about the human spirit and how it is boundless and never ceases to amaze. Well we truly believe that the canine spirit is right up there too. Ki never asked for pity or held grudges with humans. He lived his life like it started the day he was rescued. He lived each day with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.

I guess you never have enough time with someone you love. Someone had bigger plans for Ki. Plans in a place where he is no longer suffering. A place where he will be whole again, no more scars, no more pain.

We miss Ki everyday but his struggles were not in vain. He touched so many lives and the lessons he taught us will last a lifetime. His memory will live on in the hearts all of who knew him.
