In Memory of Ally McDog

After our cherished Westie Cagney passed on, we needed to find someone to bring joy to us again. At the Humane Society in Harrisburg we found the cutest little dog, all furry and full of life. This was it, I had found the dog. But just one cage farther, a skinny, half starved lab sat looking at me with the warmest eyes I have ever seen. As I walked up to her, she stood up slowly and pressed her head against the cage for me to pet her. And that was all it took. We left the cute, furry dog for another family, and took the dog that won my heart.

It was touch and go at first. The vets were not even sure she would make it. She was so malnourished and could not tolerate very much food. But she was so full of love...and as a family, we nursed her back to health. And for five years, she filled our house with the love that only a pet can bring. Our children adored her and she adored them. She was taken much, much too soon from us, and we are in shock over how quickly something so precious can be gone. We thank God for the years we have had with her, and for bringing her to us to help us over our grief of losing our first dog.

We will never forget her...how excited she was to go for our walks at night, how she would crawl into our sons bunk bed with him, squeezing all 85 pounds of herself in there. We will remember how she loved to sit high on the deck and look all over the neighborhood like a ruling lioness. We will always see her in our minds and hearts, with not only her tail wagging, but her whole entire bottom side shaking so hard with joy. She lived a short life, but it was full of love and happiness and we will always treasure that.

Our house will never be the same...and we will love you always,
Beth , Wendy, Alex and Abby
