Dear Robin and Furry Friends Volunteers, Our heartfelt thanks goes to the individual who had the insight to rescue our little girl, and we are so grateful to those who cared for her before us. Myna (formerly Hannah) was rescued after being left at a West Virginia shelter with her sister, Raven. She was about 14 weeks old when she became available for adoption. I just knew when we met her she was the perfect addition to our family. Myna has
adjusted well in a home where the "mom" is greatly experienced with pets and the
"dad" still has a lot to learn. All three of us started puppy training one week
after adoption, and it's been fun, We have had so many adventures together in such a short time, it is hard to believe it's only been eight weeks since she moved in. We have been on multiple camping trips in the Endless Mountains of PA, family picnics and she even saw me through minor surgery. Myna rides well in the car, and enjoys walking in the woods. Although we keep a careful eye on her, she is a people dog and never strays when allowed off leash. She is hesitant about the water, but we hope by the end of the summer she'll be swimming. She is polite and calm, and rarely barks. We are amazed each day that our puppy displays such self-control without human intervention. Days that we can't be home for her, she goes to "puppy day care" where she plays with her friends, and is both loved and well cared for by the staff. She also frequently visits with my sister who operates a summer resident camp. There she romps with three other dogs and has many adult people who crave her companionship. Again, we can't thank Furry Friends and it's foster system enough for everything they did to care for Myna during her first weeks of life. She came to us very healthy and happy. She was nearly house-trained, and already showed a fondness for other animals and people of all ages. The "starter pack" of toys and treats sent home with her were perfect for this set of new parents. (Myna loves her own toys, and seems to respect the belongings of her people.) Thank you for giving Myna the opportunity to know life. She would have done well with any good family, and knowing that, we are appreciative that our family received the gift of her companionship and the joy she brings to our lives every day. Sincerely, |
