Hi
there. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped Emmet come
into our lives and who helped take care of him before
he came to us.
Just thought I
would send a little update to let everyone know how
he is doing.
Although he has
only been here a few weeks, Emmet has begun to settle
in well and is making some
great strides. He has learned to sit and shake,
and is currently working on "down." He
is terrific both on a leash and in the car. He
has also conquered his fear
of our stairs and he even put on a few pounds!
And, to his great credit, he is putting up with
four cats, one of whom can be very challenging.
He also does well with dogs who are less laid-back
than he is. He has a lovely way of being strong
yet flexible at the same time. I think
he knows when to pick his battles and this makes
interactions at the dog park and on the street
very easy. Emmet is extremely tolerant and
truly has a wonderful attitude. When we go to
the dog park, the first comment I usually hear is how
attractive he is, then after they observe
him for a few minutes, I usually hear what a
great temperament he has. He is a great mix of young
dog and old soul. He is intuitive, eager
to please, kind, goofy, and excitable yet polite
at the same time. And I hope he is as happy with
us as we are with him.
We still have
some work to do. Emmet still prefers the company
of humans to dogs at the dog
park
and he hasn't quite learned
to play with the other dogs yet, though he
obviously enjoys their company. Fetch is still a
foreign word to him, and I would like to start classes
so he can earn his Canine Good Citizen certificate.
All in all, though, Emmet is doing great. We
couldn't have asked for a better dog - he truly
is a member of the family.
Ok, enough bragging.
Enclosed are some pictures. Thanks again,
Alexis
