Hi!! Robin,

I’m ELMO and my mother (Laura) is a little bit slow (5 months) at making things happen, but she now has found the time to create my HAPPY TAILS.

My former name was RUGAR. I am an 11 month old Rotti and a West Virginia Redneck. My previous owner left me tied to a tree and because of that I became Heartworm positive. He took me to Mason County Animal Shelter.

Everyday I prayed that someone would fall in Love with me and take me home, but no one wanted me because I was a sick little guy. I began spending my days and nights praying I wouldn’t have to be escorted to the gas chamber. Just as I had given up hope a wonderful organization named, ”Furry Friends Network” located me and brought me to Pennsylvania. And this is where my story begins............

In the wee hours of the morning of Saturday, January 26, 2005, I was loaded in a van with some of my other friends and we were Pennsylvania bound. It was a long trip, but I knew it had to be better than living in fear of death. I wonderful person named, ROBIN, who I had never met planned for me to go into a wonderful foster home and arranged for me to go to the doctors, so I could start feeling better.

Well, around 3 pm ,we finally arrived at a Bob Evans in Carlisle (OOH!! I sure was hungry). My foster mom & dad (Laura & Mike) were there to greet me and my whole life was about to change. They took me to their home in Tyrone, PA to live with my foster sisters, Mary (a 17 yr old Brat) and Daisy Mae. Daisy Mae, a cute 1 1/2 yr old Rotti that also came from a Rescue Mission. She was adopted when she was 11 months old as well.

I met the family and got a bath. Around 7 pm, my foster mom let me out to use the bathroom, in their fenced yard. I had another idea, Let’s see how high I can jump? Whoa, I learned I could jump over a 4 foot fence. My foster parents chased me around the town for many hours, but I keep dodging them. Oh by the way, I failed to mentioned it started snowing on the way home. I checked out the surrounding neighborhood for the next two days, cause I didn’t know how to get back to their home. Finally, my foster mom found me on Monday (Boy, did I get in trouble). She took me to the Vets as punishment.

On Tuesday morning, I was again taken to Dr Walters and planned on hanging out for a few days. Dr. Walters was great. He gave me some shots for my Heartworms and attempted to keep me still for two days. On Thursday, I got to go back to my Foster home. I calmed down this time though, I was starting to like my foster family.

Over the next few weeks, those shots Dr. Walters gave me started to take a toll on my system and I was acting as if I had no formal house breaking. It was bad for my foster mom (she spent most of two weeks scrubbing carpets, but it was great for Daisy and I, we got Beef and Rice for breakfast, lunch and dinner for two weeks.)

On Valentine’s Day, my Foster Sister got a puppy from her Boyfriend. His name is BENJI and he is a 4 lb. Pomapoo.

Well, by the end of February, my foster parents decided to adopt me. We traveled to Mechanicsburg and met my Aunt Lynn and my
cousins Nitro & Kira. This is when I became, ELMO McFadden and I was now a true member of that goofy family from Tyrone.

I’ve learned a lot and been loved a lot by my new family. My Aunt Lynn brings my cousins over quite often to see me. I don’t think I would want to be anywhere else and I am really grateful to ROBIN, my savior.

OH, by the way, it is June 13, 2005 and my mommy just took me to see Dr. Walters for a blood test. Guess What? Those dang HEARTWORMS are GONE, GONE, GONE!!!!!! Mom keeps telling me that 13 is her lucky number.

Here I am with my sister (Daisy), nephew (Benji), Cousins (Nitro & Kira) and Danielle another foster puppy mom got adopted out. I’m in the center.
