Hi!  My name is Beau.  I want to share with you my magical journey to my new family.  It would not have been possible without all the great people connected with animal rescue organizations.

Somehow I lost my way and ended up in a pound in West Virginia.  The accommodations came with steady meals and a roof to keep me dry, but the cement kennel where I stayed would never be rated as 5-star accommodations.   No less, the other animals that came in before me disappeared quickly.  I know some were happily carted away by wonderful new human masters; but I think others met a much harsher fate in the 5 short days they spent there.  It was a pretty scary place.

On day five of my stay, I noticed I had been there longer than the other animals in the pound.  As I was contemplating my fate at the pound, a wonderful angel came to my rescue.  She took me to a new home on a farm and talked to me and brushed me and fed me and loved me and spoiled me.  I loved my foster Mom very much.  My confusing short life was becoming fun and secure again.  She named me ‘Magic.’

Meanwhile, there was a family looking for a new canine family member.  The family wanted a young dog, since a puppy required more time than they could offer at this time.  My prospective family contacted Furry Friends looking for a young guy fitting my description.  Although Furry Friends didn’t have an immediate pet match, they did have a tremendous network of volunteers who knew other volunteers who knew other volunteers who knew about me.  My mug shot was forwarded and my character expounded…and the match was made.

So, one day my foster Mom took me for a ride that made me again wonder what lay ahead in my future.  She put me on a transport with others making a journey to Maryland, where I was moved to another van with a Pennsylvania destination.  Upon arrival in Pennsylvania, I first met my new family…happy, excited, wondering if I’d be as wonderful as they were told.  The final leg of the journey, where I decided to rest in part on a lap even though there was plenty of room to stretch out, took me HOME.

Home, forever, with my new three member human family and my two new feline sisters.  They call me ‘Beau.’  Mom’s the best… Dad’s great even though he wasn’t reported to be as anxious for my arrival…and my 12-year-old boy’s my very best friend.  My Dad and my favorite boy reminded me how much fun it is to play…with balls and pull toys and every other toy a dog could want.  We’re even going to obedience school together.  My feline sisters think I’m OK, although they experience my most mischievous side; but they’ll be snuggling up with me for naps as soon as the summer heat is replaced by colder weather.

Who could have imagined my life could be so magically transformed in a few short weeks.  I hear there are many others of my kind in need of forever families.  Do you believe in Magic?

All my thanks to the Furry Friends Network,
Beau (aka Magic)
